Our Process

Brainstorming

Just about every design that is created by us originates the traditional way; paper and pencil. We believe a strong part of the design process comes from the imagination and ideas that will develop in the beginning stage of sketching. Most designers simply use the computer as their main tool, but we have an arsenal of weapons that supply our creative process. We love the power and emotion a design can create.

Digitizing

The digitizing stage is the next step in the creative process. Here, we take our best sketch concepts and make them a digital version.  Depending on the complexity of the original artwork we may either digitally freehand the design, or scan in the sketch for comparison. This is the process which really shapes the path for the finished product. On the computer it’s easy to see instant results of things such as color changes, shadows, gradients, and other effects to see which, if any, meet the desired vision of the client.

Typography

Typography is one of the most important aspects of design; each design project has a different feel that each client tries to convey. Whether it’s a brochure for a nursing home that wants to express a warm, hospitable feel, or whether it’s a band poster that wants to show a bold and intriguing design, typography can assist in creating almost any emotion.

Combining

This is the point when we take that bold emotion of the typography, and the designs from the digitizing stage and combine the two to create a set of complete conceptual mock ups. This set of designs is sent to the client, allowing them to be involved in the design process as much as possible. After all we seek to create unique designs around their vision.

Refining

Our refining step is when we take the best combinations of color, typography, and design and recreate them as if they were the final version. Each project goes through a critiquing stage during the refining process where the designer asks critical questions. For example, during the refining process for a logo the designer must ask himself: “Is it scalable?” meaning if the logo was put on a letterhead or on a billboard would the difference of size still convey the same emotion? The second question is “Does it look good in black and white? There will be various times when someone does not have the opportunity to see your logo in color. Items like letterheads, fax pages, or invoices may have a black and white version of your logo. Finally, the designer must ask “Is it memorable?” One thing you want is a logo that can be remembered.

Finalizing

Once all the above questions are answered a final design is chosen. One final design in color and one in black and white. Then, if applicable the design is moved to the printing process to create business cards, letterheads, screen printed garments, banners, or any other promotional products to help your company grow!
